I tried the first of my Blood Road tea blends from Adagio. Of course I had to start with the blend for my main character, Torien. The base is a chestnut black tea, with hazelnut, cream, and apple accents. I wanted the blend to be very rustic, woodsy, and autumnal: Torien’s birthday is in the fall, for one thing, and woods/trees always seem to figure very prominently in his memories of his homeland—especially when he’s gallivanting around the desert in Blood Road.

So, the tea itself. It has a strong nutty flavor, unsurprisingly. More surprisingly, it’s actually nicely sweet and smooth, probably on account of the touch of cream flavoring. The apple taste is very subtle. I took it plain and hot, but it tastes quite pleasant cold, too. Another taster added honey and commented that the honey overwhelmed the flavor of the tea.

All in all, I’m quite pleased with the blend, and I do think it reflects Torien well. If you’d like to try it yourself, it’s available here. I’ll be interested to see what others think!
