Once more unto the breach

We’re now two days past Hobbit Day, and so officially two days into autumn, and for once Georgia weather seems to be with the program. It’s crisp and clear and cool outside—perfect weather for writing, and hoodie-wearing, and cappuccino-drinking (see image right). Perfect weather, too, for NaNoWriMo-planning.

It’s hard to believe it’s already that time of year again, but it’s only one week now until the NaNoWriMo site relaunches, and once that happens it’s amazing how time flies. This year it’ll probably go even more quickly than usual, since I’ve set a personal goal of finishing up The Sword Unsheathed and getting it out to beta readers before NaNoWriMo begins. Accordingly, I’ve refrained from giving much thought to my NaNo project so far, but I do have an idea, and I have to say I’m pretty excited about it. Hopefully I’ll be able to reveal more details as we draw closer to November.

Anybody else planning on NaNoing this year? What will you be working on?

In other news, I’ll be hosting a UK-only giveaway of His Own Good Sword starting tomorrow, the 25th, and running through October 5th. Head on over to Goodreads for more information.

How come Georiga is cool and Florida isn’t? :P I still have to sweat to drink my coffee ;)

You know I’ve been thinking about NaNoWriMo for several years, but for the life of me, I have never really found out what you actually do for it, haha ;) Is it writing a novel in a month or something?

Well, “cool” is, of course, relative-it’s in the mid-70s here now. :D

There really isn’t much to NaNoWriMo. Essentially the goal is to write an average of 1667 words a day, which comes out to 50,000 words for the month. There’s no real prize except the satisfaction of knowing you did it (though for the past few years Createspace has offered winners free proof copies of their novels). :) But it’s a chance to meet new writer friends, and the forums are an amazing help year-round.

Let me know if you decide to do it!

Awesome I think I will =) I’m actually planning to start on “By Blood and By Bond” next month. Right now I’m just finishing up another short story for Viggo which should be out soon ;)
