A tale of The Cymeriad

A trail of mysterious kidnappings has led Commander Torien Risto to Tasso, a remote Imperial outpost on the rim of the desert. The city is a tangled web of deception and corruption, and Torien’s search for answers leaves him only with more questions. Determined to solve the disappearances, he turns his eyes to the Salt Road, the ancient trade route running deep into the heart of the desert—territory claimed by the hostile Mayaso tribe. The road is dangerous—back home they call it the Blood Road—but Torien is convinced it’s the key to this mystery.
His guide is a signo, sentenced to military service as punishment for crime, and now condemned to death for conspiring with the Mayasi against Imperial forces. In return for his help, Torien promises him legal protection and the chance to redeem his name—but as they venture further into the desert, further from Imperial sway, Torien realizes he needs the signo much more than the signo needs him. The signo knows the desert, Torien does not—and it’s called the Blood Road for a reason.
